The Powell and Welch Almshouse Charity has eight affordable housing units within the village of Bitteswell, near Lutterworth in Leicestershire. Six are two bedroom semi-detached houses and two are one bedroom apartments.
As a modern Almshouse Charity we provide affordable housing in a rural area for local people who are in need. Our Residents tend to be people of limited means who are accepted as Almshouse Residents due to their circumstances and their inability to fund a home from their own resources. Click on ‘Almshouses’ on the menu to the left, to find out more about the selection criteria.
When a vacancy occurs, it is advertised locally and on this page of the charity’s website. At present, we have one vacancy and the closing date for applications is 30 September 2017.
The Trustees of the Powell and Welch Almshouse Charity seek applications to occupy No 4 Powell Row. Residents of Bitteswell or people who have a connection to the village or local area will have first priority. Suitable for a single person or couple, all ages, no dogs allowed and applicants must be non-smoking. The property has two bedrooms, is maintained to a high standard and has a well-kept garden which will need tending. Weekly amount payable £96 for one person: £130 for a couple.
